Ammonite Pear Cab
Interesting pear cab - cut form a beautifully preserved ammonite fossil specimen.
Rich brown and toffee tones with translucent areas in the chambers of the original shell. These are best seen when the cab is held up to the light.
Flat backed and polished on the face only.
Sometimes the cutters add a little resin to the backs of the cabs to ensure the backs are flat to aid setting. The natural contours of the ammonite shell are curved and leads to a naturally uneven back.
This cab has only a little resin to even out the base of the gem. Can not be seen from the face. Please see photos.
